White water rafting means cruising down
a rushing river in an inflatable rubber
raft or white water kayak over crashing
waves and swirling rapids for the
excitement of a lifetime. Nepal has
earned a reputation as one of the best
destinations in the world for white
water rafting. Nepal/s thundering
waters, coming from the glaciers of the
mighty Himalaya, provide unmatched
thrills for rafting and immersing
oneself in the landscape. A rafting trip
is bound to be the highlight of your
stay in the country. Rivers are graded
on a scale of one to six, with one being
a swimming pool and six a one-way ticket
to your maker. Four is considered to be
quite challenging without being
exceedingly dangerous to the novice
rafter. Five requires some previous
river experience.
There are numerous rivers in Nepal which
offer excellent rafting or canoeing
experience. One can opt for a day of
river running or more. So far , the
Nepal Government has opened sections of
16 rivers for commercial rafting. Among
them the most popular rivers are as
follows:
A) Trishuli River: It is one of
the most popular and preferable river
for White Rafting. It's grade is 3+ as
being the ideal for a day trip and
possible to have 2 days camping trip. It
is on the way to Pokhara, Gorkha,
Chitwan National Park or Limbini
destinations.
B) Bhote Koshi River: It is a
steepest 26 km continuous white water
4-5 graded .
C) Marshyangdi River: It is four
to seven days of uninterrupted raging
white water .
D) Kali Gandaki River: It winds
through remote canyons and deep gorge
for five days of intense rapid with a
fun and challenging for 2-4 days trip.
E) Kanali River: It provides some
of the most challenging rapids in the
world which has 4-5 grade rapid and
provides the option of Jungle Safari in
Bardia National Park at the end of the
trip.
F) Sun Koshi River: It has 270 km
white water requiring 8-10 days to
complete.
