Pokhara is one of the most impressive
places of the world which is a rare
combination of the long arrays of snow
clad peaks, crystal clear lakes,
turbulent rivers with deep gorges and
picturesque villages inhabited by simple
and friendly ethnic people. Only the
fewer places in the world might have
such a splendid variety of natural
beauties crammed into one small area
like the valley of Pokhara. A favorite
spot among tourists visiting Nepal, to
get away from the hustle and bustle of
the capital to a peaceful setting,
Pokhara offers a variety of activities.
One may explore the Fewa Lake with a
rowboat, bike around the city, hunt for
Orchids in the nearby Raniban, relax by
the lake side or take a hiking trip
around the valley, with routes available
to suit everyone's needs and
preferences.
Barahi Temple
In the middle of the phewa lake there
lies an Island, which contains the
temple of Barahi. Barahi is lord Bishnu
in his boar incarnation. The temple's
peaceful setting has made Barahi a must
visit site for both the domestic and
foreign tourists.
Bindabasini Tample
Pokhara's most popular temple,
Bindabasini lies on top of a small hill
North of downtown. The temple is
dedicated to Goddess Durga in her Binda
Basini Bhagwati manifestation. This
temple is overly crowded during the
Hindu festival Dashain.
Seti River
The snow white Seti river flows right
through pokhara, while running
completely underground in some places
dropping to 50 meter below ground level.
The view of this river, in combination
with the Himalayas is quite fascinating.
Devi's Falls
The pardi stream, an outlet of Phewa
Leke drops down into a hole and
disappears some 2 kilometer south of
Phewa lake, creating this dramatic fall.
A major tourist attraction in Pokhara,
this fall got its name comes from a tale
about a tourist named David and his
girlfriend who were washed away inside
the whole by a suddenly rushed water.
